The HEART UK annual conference is taking place this year in Hatfield. This a well attended meeting that has a wide remit with expert speakers in the diagnosis and managment of lipid disorders, but also engages patients to attend at more focussed less intense sessions. Day registration is available and the meeting is CPD registered.
Focus this year is 'Lipids in the community'
After a short illness, Carol Briggs departed this life. Carol worked in the laboratory haematology evaluation centre at University College London Hospital.
She was member of the British Committee for Standards in Haematology (BCSH), of the United Kingdom National External Quality Assessment Service (UKNEQAS) advisory group and Scientific Secretary of the International Committee of Standardisation in Haematology (ICSH) and recently Board Member of the International Society of Laboratory Haematology (ISLH). She was also Associate Editor for the International Journal of Laboratory Hematology (IJLH).
She was invited to write and edit a chapter on blood cell counters for the last two editions of the oldest standard haematology text, “Dacie and Lewis Practical Haematology”.
ISLH 2016 Symposium will be held in Milan, Italy.
