ISLH Webinar Series: December 2025
04/12/2025
On Thursday, December 18th 2025, at 11:00 AM ET (17:00 PM CET) the International Society for Laboratory Hematology will host a webinar in the 2025 e-Learning series: "ICC and WHO Classifications of Myeloid Malignancies".
The webinar will be presented by Alexa J. Siddon, MD Yale University School of Medicine, Maria Roussakis, University of Southern Queensland, will be the Moderator.
Overview:
The following presentation reviews the major updates in the WHO 5th Edition and International Consensus Classification (ICC) systems for myeloid malignancies, highlighting the increasing integration of molecular genetics into disease definition, prognosis, and management. Key topics include the recognition of clonal hematopoiesis, updated diagnostic thresholds for MDS and AML, and the molecular characterization of entities such as SF3B1-mutated MDS, TP53-mutated myeloid neoplasms, and genetically defined AML subtypes. The talk emphasizes how advances in sequencing technologies and expanding knowledge of driver mutations have reshaped classification systems and clinical practice.
Learning Objectives:
-
Understand the major updates in the WHO-5th edition and ICC classifications of myeloid malignancies, including how molecular features now define or refine categories.
-
Recognize the diagnostic and prognostic significance of key driver mutations.
-
Apply updated classification principles to clinical hematopathology practice, including evaluating blast thresholds, integrating cytogenetic and molecular data, and selecting appropriate testing methods.
We look forward to your participation in this event! There is no charge to participate in the live webinar.
