Summary
In 1930 Luigi D’Amato, professor of pathology at Naples University, and Luigi Zoja professor of clinical medicine in Milan, founded a monthly journal of laboratory medicine titled “Diagnostica e Tecnica di Laboratorio”. The journal published notes of Italian physicians and researchers but wide space was given to reviews of works from international scientific journals. In particular, information on practical analysis, description and evaluation of instruments and methods rather than experimental works were preferred. The journal was published from 1930 to 1941 in 12 volumes.
Key-words: birth of a journal of clinical laboratory, Luigi D’Amato, Luigi Zoja, journal of laboratory medicine.
