Short and long-term risk stratification of non-ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndromes (ACS) should be based on a combination of clinical history, symptoms, ECG, biomarkers, risk score results, and imaging findings. Several risk stratification scores have been developed and validated in large patient populations. The GRACE risk score is based on a large unselected population of an international registry with a full spectrum of ACS patients. The risk factors were derived with independent predictive power for in-hospital deaths and post-discharge deaths at 6 months. The evaluation of the individual risk is a dynamic process that is to be updated as the clinical situation evolves.
