ISLH Webinar Series: November 2026
05/11/2026
On Thursday, November 19h 2026, at 11:00 AM ET (17:00 PM CET) the International Society for Laboratory Hematology will host a webinar in the 2026 e-Learning series: "Why use R? Reproducible Data Analysis in Laboratory Hematology".
The webinar will be presented by Amrom Obstfeld, MD, PhD, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, PA, USA; Gina Zini, Hematology Professor, Università Cattolica Sacro Cuore - Rome, Italy, will be the Moderator.
Overview:
Laboratory hematology generates increasingly large and complex datasets, but many laboratories still rely heavily on spreadsheets for analysis.
This presentation will explore why script-based tools such as R offer a more transparent, reproducible, and auditable approach. Using practical laboratory examples, it will highlight applications in areas such as method comparison, quality control, visualization, and reporting, and will discuss how newer AI tools are lowering the barrier to adopting code-based analytical workflows.
Learning Objectives:
-
Explain how R supports transparent, reproducible, and auditable data-analysis workflows.
-
Describe key limitations of spreadsheet-based analysis for complex laboratory hematology data.
-
Identify practical applications and resources for beginning to use R and AI-assisted coding in laboratory hematology.
We look forward to your participation in this event!
This webinar will begin promptly at 11:00 AM Eastern Time US and are approximately 50 minutes long.
All archived webinars are available for free to ISLH Members. You can access the webinars by logging into your ISLH Member account or visiting the ISLH Education webpage.
