CLSI Call for Nominations
Pulse Oximetry; Approved Guideline (Revision of POCT11-A [Formerly HS3-A])

The Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute has requested nominations to serve as subcommittee members to revise the CLSI document described below: Description: As part of the activities of the CLSI Area Committee on Point-of-Care Testing, CLSI will be forming a subcommittee to update/revise the current guideline POCT11-A, Pulse Oximetry: Approved Guideline.

Over the past five years, technology has advanced specifically in the area of sensor technology and computer algorithms to improve reliability in regards to motion artifact and hypoperfusion. However, all manufactures have not progressed to the same level. As part of this revision, the subcommittee will review the manufacturer-to-manufacturer and model-to-model significant variations that
can be observed in the clinical setting. In addition, the subcommittee will determine the potential for content expansion to include co-oximetry discussion in light of technology advances and new available device(s) that recently emerged. The overall objective of this revision is to provide updated guidelines to all individuals involved in the path of workflow for pulse oximetry including physicians, nurses, other authoriz ed practitioners, and allied health professionals.

Specific Expertise/Work Experience Needed: The subcommittee will require representatives as specified below:
· Manufacturers of instruments, medical technologists, laboratory scientists, laboratory directors, physicians, nurses, allied health professionals involved in pulse oximetry.
